Gail "Pixie"'s obituary
Gail Fagan, of Murfreesboro TN passed away peacefully on January 8, 2020 surrounded by her loving family in Ortley Beach, NJ.
Gail “Pixie” was born on July 28, 1951 to Jeanne (Heater) and Francis Jennings of Riverdale, New York. Gail grew up in Riverdale and was the eldest of five children. She graduated from Our Lady of Victory (Dobbs Ferry) in 1969.
Gail is survived by her loving husband Larry; her devoted daughter Heather, and wonderful granddaughter Charlotte. She is also survived by her four younger siblings: Thomas (Diane) Jennings, Wendy Synan, Tracey Walsh, and Keith (Barbara) Jennings; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by both of her parents, her maternal and paternal grandparents, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
There are many beautiful stories to remember about Gail, but my favorite is how she and my father met. One evening, after work, Gail walked into an Irish pub with her sister. As they sat down, Gail looked across the bar and told her sister that the man she saw at the other end was the man she was going to marry. After meeting they fell in love, she and Larry wed on August 14, 1976. They eventually moved to Poughquag, NY where they had their only daughter, Heather. Gail was the quintessential wife and mother; she always put everyone’s happiness and needs above her own. She was also very active in her daughter’s school by volunteering in class and the board of the PTA and also at church by teaching Religious Education.
Because being a mother came naturally for her, Gail was known in her family as the caretaker and nurturer. She never let anyone go unloved or ever feel left out. Everyone looked to her for guidance and support and they knew she was always willing to give it freely. Her kind nature was only surpassed by her wit and keen intelligence. She was always the best hostess and loved entertaining - whether it was family, friends, the entire drama department, or my sorority house.
Gail found her passion when she began working as a Special Education Paraprofessional in New Britain schools. She loved going to school every day and bringing smiles to all those with whom she worked. The students fell in love with her because she loved them and her ability to teach and mentor came from her heart. She retired in 2010 to spend quality time with her granddaughter. Her granddaughter brought her so much love and joy.
In the spirit of a loving Mother, Grandmother, and teacher, Gail has requested that donations can be made to her granddaughter Charlotte’s college fund or to Saint Jude’s Cancer Center in lieu of flowers.
Mass services and a Celebration of Life will be announced shortly.
