Born on January 17, 1986, in Apatzingán Michoacan to his parents Maria and Salvador Castañeda. He is survived by his parents, siblings Salvador, Isabel, Alex, and Silvia, nephews Noe, Nico, Michael, Mariza, Thiago, and his beloved four-legged child “Bruce Wayne”. Gabriel had several nicknames, Gabe, Tio Gabriel, and Gaby but his all-time favorite was “Ch01sen” a nickname he gave himself when learning that he was named after the angel chosen by God to deliver his message to the Virgin Mary and others, Angel Gabriel.

If you met him as a child, you probably remember him walking around the streets of Apatzingán with no clothes, eating mangos, cantaloupe, or his favorite pastry Gansito. Even at a young age, he had a contagious smile and laughter. Never complained about sharing even if it was the last piece that he had left. Gabe had a heart of gold; loved his family and would do anything just to make them smile. He was the uncle who spoiled the nephews and niece, taking them to every Superhero movie, shopping sprees with no limit, and gifting them the one gift he knew would drive the parents crazy. He loved cooking, he enjoyed teaching his sisters a meal or two, and he taught his mom how to make Birria; but he refused to share his most famous and delicious lasagna recipe.

He always made his grand entrance to any gathering by arriving late but never empty-handed, wearing his famous 49er gear or Batman shirt. His laughter and charming personality just lit up the room and will be forever missed.

Raised in a religious family guided by bible principles, Gabe learned the importance of values, being respectful, doing good to others, and kindness. Values that guided his life. He was also brought up to have faith in resurrection here on paradise earth, a hope that his family longs to see fulfilled and awaits the day when they can see that beautiful smile, hear his laughter, and be able to hug him again.
