Rick's obituary
Frederick “Rick” Williamson Duvall passed away on November 28, 2023. Born in Washington, DC, to the late Mary Louise (née Williamson) and Joseph Edwin Duvall, Rick spent the past 35 years in Wake County, NC. He was a National Merit Scholar who used his intellect and talent as a computer programmer for NASA, the Air Force, and the private sector, as well as a real estate agent.
Known for his warm heart and easy laugh, Rick was an avid conversationalist who delighted in the company of others. Throughout his life, Rick played the role of guardian angel to those around him, including his best friend, BJ Christian, and other members of the single parents group at Crossroads Fellowship. In his younger years, Rick enjoyed playing guitar, competing in road rallies, leading his Lions Club’s Fourth of July festivities, bowling, restoring historic houses, and driving his convertible Triumph Stag, affectionately known as ‘Super Lemon.’ He particularly loved his historic home in Wake Forest, going to Myrtle Beach, and telling amusing stories from his youth.
He is survived by his children, Sandra Duvall (Moulaye Sy), Robert Duvall (Shannon), Joseph “Willow” Duvall, and Bryan Duvall; his siblings, Suzette Dzuik, Marsha Davis (James), and Daniel Duvall (Mary); his grandchildren, Skylar Duvall, Zain Sy, Liliana "Lily" Duvall, Dave Duvall, Jaydin Duvall, Maycie Duvall, and Kaya Duvall, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dickie” Marshall Duvall.
In celebration of Rick's life, a memorial service and celebration of life will take place in Wake Forest, NC. His memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who were touched by his kindness. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to your favorite charity in Rick’s name.
