To a Professor I Love and Respect,
It sucks so bad because I didn't want to believe that you are really gone. It took days for me to call and get the information because I wasn't ready for the truth. I actually tried to forget about it because I just couldn't handle it! To some, you were just a college Professor, but to me, you were a mentor and life changer. You helped me find the potential I never thought I had. You did not make it easy to pass your courses but you made sure that whatever area i struggled, you were there to help. Dr. Carter, you were an amazing Professor. You were tough as nails but only because you wanted what was best for your students. I pray that you spread your awesomeness in heaven. Thank you for everything, now you can rest in peace Big Guy!

My deepest condolences to the Carter family. Fred was an awesome man who kept me laughing when he'd stop by my office. I have a sickly daughter and he'd always ask how she was doing. Very kind, we will miss him at Malcolm X College.

My deepest condolences to Mrs. Carter and family. The Xavier family will miss his bright spirit and dedication. To echo others, thank you for sharing him with us. He welcomed me with open arms when I first moved to Chicago and never failed to ask about my parents, whom he remembered as young Xavier alumni in Chicago while he served as
President. Continued prayers for your strength and comfort.
My Condolences to Joyce & her entire family. May God continues with his angels & arms around you & your children. Stay strong & prayerful. May Mr. Fred RIP. ♥️♥️
Heartfelt sympathy to Joyce and children. Knew Fred and Joyce for over 20 years through a mutual friend. Epitome of classy African /American poise and brilliance. Prayers for your strength in the days ahead. Pat Lattimore.

R.I.P Mr. Carter. I will never forget your leadership, friendship, and Mentorship as President of Xavier Chicago Alumni... Thank you for your service.... Rodney Bell Class of 99
I am sending my deepest sympathy to Mrs. Joyce, James, and Jocelyn. Mr. Carter was an advisor, mentor, father-figure to me and so many other Xavierites. He represented and displayed the beliefs of Saint Katherine Drexel. Thank you for sharing your husband/dad with the Xavier community and the world. His legacy will live on.
