Happy Birthday to dear Fred. Your humility was quite a contrast to all your achievements. I mean not just your career but how you treated others.  Your trust and your loyalty to others was a good lesson for those paying attention.  You are truly missed by so many.
My Husband and I lived in South America most of our married lives doing cross cultural missions to an unreached indigenous people group.  We met Fred and Sally in Santa Barbara (my hometown) during one of our home assignments.  Fred took a great interest our ministry and invited us to share with their home Bible study group.  This gave us wonderful opportunities to share the challenge with God's people of reaching a previously unreached people group.  On two of our visits to Santa Barbara Fred and Sally both graciously hosted us in their home while Merrill was recovering from surgeries.  Fred was always so kind and gracious and made us feel right at home.  We always enjoyed sharing stories and fellowshipping together.  What a blessing both Fred and Sally have been in our lives.

Thank you Lord for bringing Fred and Sally Baker to Canada and to become such a significant part of our lives.   Since I heard of Fred's death this morning, my mind has been flooded with wonderful memories of Fred and Sally.   This young American couple simply embraced us in Toronto, in the late 70s. Taught us how to eat and cook mexican food, entertained my Ferguson family, contributed to our church life, and participated in Bible Studies. My parents loved Sally and Fred, so so much. And we did as well. We were all dazzled by their tales of California and their courtship.   As sad as I am, I am so thankful to have known Fred. Indeed we were impacted in many ways.
Dear Sally,I just learned today of Fred's death. Wouldn't you know it to be true... via the Internet Journal, which came into my email here at the University of Toronto! I've seen and read many of the memorials, in Fred's honour and I concur heartily with them.We remember well your time at Leaside Bible Chapel in the 80s, when Fred was at CDC.And since that time, I had the privilege of meeting with Fred and you, when I was in Silicon Valley on a course, and Fred was at Vitalink. I think I still remember what we had for dinner at your warm home.Afterwards I've met Fred, on and off, at various IETF related events, when he was in the Toronto area, or I was down there, mostly during the dot-com thing.Fred was a indirect mentor to me, as I am sure he was to many others. We had some meals together, and chatted about our lives and the intersection of work, technology, science, church, faith and family. Always a good time. I loved Fred most of all for his lack of pretence, and because we shared a mutual family bond in the Lord Jesus.Warmly in Christ,Russell & Alison
Sally and family,  Fred was an integral part of the Hagen household.  We met in the early 80's at Twin Cities Bible Church in St. Paul, MN. Fred and Sally have been a part of our lives ever since.  Fred's passion for missions was evident in his financial giving to not only John and I but we know to many others.  We loved his insight into spiritual matters and I'll never forget his sitting alongside Sally on our couch as they both worked on embroidering blocks for their first baby!  That's love!  Thanks for sharing Fred with us and the world!  Love, John & Sandi Hagen
Fred was a pragmatic problem solver and a fundamentally good person. His leadership succeeded because he was trusted to try to come to satisfactory conclusions. He listened carefully, disagreed respectfully, believed passionately and enjoyed life immensely. That joy was infectious and I was one of many beneficiaries.  I am truly grateful that Fred was such a significant contributor to the evolution of the Internet. That required patience and a certain skill in herding fractious engineers of the IETF. The world was made a better place for his presence in it. (vint cerf)
I have known Fred ever since my first IETF meeting back in 2000. Despite being a very busy person he was always be available to help with anything a newbie would need and I have seen him do this for newcomers for almost two more decades. I later enjoyed worked closely with Fred for encouraging the deployment of IPv6 in mobile networks worldwide and I found his extensive experience and can do attitude to be invaluable to this effort. He will be greatly missed by his friends the entire Internet community. May he Rest in Peace with the knowledge that he has made the world a better place

Our hearts and prayers go out to you all during this difficult time. We know that Fred is in a better place and is watching over your entire family.  He will be greatly missed.

Love,

Mark and Rita Khouzam

This is a late but no less heartfelt expression of gratitude tinged with regret that Fred has left us too soon. I had enormous respect for Fred's technical capacity but his style and commitment to excellence stands out for me. Even in disagreement, you could not avoid Fred's sincerity in the search for good answers to hard problems. Others have spoken eloquently of the kindness with which Fred treated others. I will miss him.
Such wonderful memories of Homegroup together.  Love you !

Fred was one of the most decent, thoughtful, and fair people who I ever knew.  He provided leadership without concern for himself.  I intersected with him in the Internet Society and elsewhere in the technical world.   He was a model of calmness, wisdom, and integrity.  He will certainly be missed.
Oh Sally! I am praying for you, and your whole family! May the Spirit of Jesus hold your hearts as you grieve! May He speak comfort and peace to your souls. I only just met you and Fred a year and a half ago when I was visiting Escondido, but I am so grateful for your dear friendship. I was so blessed by Fred's attention and interest to hear my stories, his care for the things that were important to me, and his faithful help with my projects and events. And when I would come to church and not know many people (because I've been gone for so long) Fred's welcoming smile and friendship and his invitation to sit with you guys was such an encouragement to me!
We are blessed to know Fred and his family. My Granddaughters Lucy and Penny reflect their Papa's wit and charisma  Fred will always be loved and remembered. We pray for peace and comfort for the Baker Family.

Fred was a dear friend, and it was always great to hang out with you guys.  He always had a lot of good questions about the Pume work and often gave us good ideas about how to move forward.  We always knew that you guys together were part of the team that our great God raised up to encourage and strengthen us during the long journey of seeing churches planted among this dear people group.  I'm sure many dear Pume brethren have already connected with Fred in Glory and given him a big HUG and THANK YOU for his investment in their lives, and thus in eternity.  So yeah, will be great to connect with Fred again in Heaven, as the day of our Lord's return draws ever closer.

With love, thankfulness and admiration, Merrill and Teresa

We are so thankful for Fred's life and the memories we have with him. We'll miss his sincerity, how steady he was, and the warm welcome we always received. Grieving his loss with you and sending our love to the family. Sorrowful yet rejoicing in the eternal life through Christ that is before him. With love, Garrett and Kim
Fred always made sure everyone could voice their ideas and contribute. He was a wonderful leader who knew how to get the best of everyone.
Fred was such a great guy, always happy to see us and try to get Cutie to say hi to him. We miss him at our walks! Rest in peace🙏🏼
