Freddy Daza passed away peacefully at his home in Daly City on January 10, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Born in 1942 in Cochabamba, Bolivia as one of twelve children, Freddy completed his undergraduate education in Agricultural Engineering at the University of San Simón (Universidad Mayor de San Simón) before he immigrated to the United States as a student. He graduated from University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. After working with numerous companies in Silicon Valley, including Genentec, Freddy retired to spend time with his family and enthusiastically encourage his five grandchildren to pursue their education. He especially loved walks around Lake Merced, continuing to explore his passion for mathematics, watching old Westerns, and staying connected to his huge family in California and around the globe. Freddy is survived by his wife Marisa Haydee, his sons Harry (Sharon) and Dustin (Beth), grandchildren Emily, Alexander, Nicholas, Cassandra, and Leonardo, his former wife, Maria de Lourdes, daughter-in-law Shelley, and dozens of extended family and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary on Thursday, January 27, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations in Freddy’s name can be made to the USF Fund at the University of San Francisco.
