Fred's obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Freddie "Fred" West, who was born on January 26, 1947, and left us on January 13, 2026. Known affectionately as Fred, he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, etching a mark in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Sue West, whom he married in 1967. His legacy will continue in the lives of his three children: Jay West and his wife, Kristi, Casey West and her husband, Brady, and Ryan West and his wife, Crystal. Fred was a cherished Grandfather to Grant and his wife, Kaylee, Hayden, Hobie, Colette, and Adam West, who will remember him fondly. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathy Garfield, Sam West, and Donny West.

He was predeceased by his father, Aubrey Dwight (aka AD) West, his mother, Clarice Roe, step-father, Phil Roe, and brothers Johnny and Bobby West. His family will remember him as a loving, devoted father and husband.

Fred graduated from Valencia High School in Placentia, CA in 1964. He then attended Fullerton Junior College in 1965, where he made an impact by winning the national JC football championship. His jovial spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

At the age of 18, Fred became a longtime follower of Jesus which altered the trajectory of his life. He went to Talbot seminary and was a pastor. He highlighted every single word in his Bible! His longed for hope has now been fulfilled.

Fred and Sue married in 1967 and provided a loving, stable model of marriage for their kids over almost 60 years. Sue lovingly cared for Fred in their home for several years as his Alzheimer's deteriorated up until the last month when he needed hospice care.

His children have fond memories of Fred as a playful father who loved to engage with them, throwing them up into the air, catching them, and chasing them around the house! He was always telling them to do a "thorough" job. His laughter and love will continue to echo in their hearts and homes.

In honor of his life, we remember not just the man Fred was, but the lasting influence he had on all those around him. His memory will be cherished, and he will be deeply missed.
