Freddie's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Freddie Fernandez (July 29, 1969 - April 5, 2025). He was a great husband, father, son, brother, brother in law, uncle, cousin, and friend. He leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years (Sylvia), his children (Vincent, Sal, Jeffrey, Alicia, Reyna, and Leyla), his grandchildren (Max, Sadie, Isabella), his mother (Carmen), mother in law (Alice), siblings (Juan, Carmen, Rogelio, Jr., Aida, and Gloria), and countless nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. His father (Rogelio Duarte Fernandez) preceded him in death. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, humor and loyalty. He could make you laugh with his quick wit and story telling. All who knew Freddie have been touched by his kindness and sincere love for all. He will always be remembered for DJing (Champagne Attractions) countless weddings and family gatherings throughout the Harbor Area and the South Bay. He knew how to get a party started with his music!  He was a proud Union member of the ILWU Local 13. He loved his Dodgers, 49ers, USC Trojans, and Banning Pilots. He enjoyed camping trips with his family and friends to Three Rivers. He also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Laughlin, and Big Bear with family and friends. Freddie was raised in Wilmington and resided in Garden Grove at the time of his passing. Freddie’s Rosary services will be on Thursday, May 1st, 2025 at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach from 5pm-8pm.
