Born in Danzig, Prussia on April 2, 1931, passed away peacefully in Toronto, Canada on November 29, 2023.

Freda was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Jim Hines (1930–2019). Freda/Mom/Oma is survived by her son, James “Jimmy” (Heather), daughter Carole (Jason), and four grandchildren, Lindsey, Mattheas, Jasper and Maeve.

Having met in Toronto after immigrating to Canada after WWII, Freda (from Germany) and Jim (from England) married in 1965 and raised little Jimmy and Carole while running The Butcher Shop on Yonge Street. Freda’s meat pies were a favourite among patrons for many years.

Freda was astute, hard-working, generous with advice, and one of the best cooks around. Lovingly prepared Sunday dinners were warm, delicious family events for decades in the Hines home. Freda, we love you. You will be missed.
