Freda's obituary

In Loving Memory of Freda Lynne Burgos

December 17, 1962 – July 31, 2025

Freda Lynne Burgos, 62, of Gold Hill, NC, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025. Born in Montgomery County, NC, Freda lived a life full of warmth, strength, and an unwavering love for the people around her.

Freda had a heart for caregiving and spent many years compassionately helping others. Whether she was offering care as a profession or simply checking in on someone she loved, Freda made sure those in her life knew they were loved. You never had to question it—she showed it in every act of kindness, every conversation, and every hug.

In recent years, she found joy in helping out at the E.H. Montgomery General Store in Gold Hill and treasured the time she spent there. She adored her cat, Indi, and was often found laughing with friends from the Y, enjoying music, or casting a line while fishing. But her greatest joy of all was spending time with her twin daughters—making memories filled with laughter, closeness, and unconditional love.

Freda was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Coble, of Albemarle, NC.

She is survived by her loving mother, Linda Jackson, and stepfather, Ernest Jackson, both of Gold Hill, NC; her stepmother, Vera Kaye Coble, of Albemarle, NC; her children: Kaci Moran (Andrew) of Sterling, VA, and Kala O’Connor (Kyle) of Monroe, NC; and her siblings: Chris Jackson (Heather), Lisa Hunt (Micky), Gina Coble, and Lora Coble Melton (Noah). Freda was deeply loved by her family, and her presence will be forever missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 9th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Rockwell Methodist Church in Rockwell, NC. All who knew and loved Freda are welcome to come honor her memory.

Our family has been deeply touched by the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this time. We are so grateful for every message, visit, and memory shared—it has reminded us just how many lives our mom touched with her love.
