Freda's obituary

Our dearest mom, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and blessing to all she met made her transition Wednesday, March 7 at 11:22pm. Freda leaves behind the loves of her life, her beloved 3 sons; Alan, Dan, and Richard and their families, as well as her brother, Dave Amsel and his family.
Freda had a very fulfilling, rich, and expressive life, and touched the lives of so many. She was a gifted writer, numerologist, artist, poet, actress, and even a songwriter.
She was a people person and drew them to her like a bright and shiny magnet. Her home was always full of people and laughter. In 1985 she felt inspired to join the Great Peace March and walked across the country. Two years later, she was chosen to do the same in Russia, bringing her own special brand of love and light with her.
Freda opened her home to many, many roommates after her divorce, taking each one under her wing. There were 114 at last count, most of whom stayed in touch with her and became lifelong friends.
We who knew her were blessed indeed and our hearts are filled now with gratitude for having had her presence in our lives as long as we did. Her sons are living testaments to who she was, what she stood for, and her unconditional love. She will live on in them and all of her wonderful relationships.
Freda passed away peacefully. Her oldest son Alan, who took on the role of primary caregiver for her final weeks battling the return of cancer, was at her side, as always. Her dear friend Cindy, was present in the house as well. She was surrounded in the love of her family and received an outpouring of loving emails in the weeks leading up to her transition.
A small service was held for the immediate family on Sunday, March 11, at the home of Dan and Sharon Pollock. Freda would have been 86 in June.
