Fred's obituary
Fred Porr Sr. (Dad, Pappy, Pap, Pappy-do, Pap pa Pap Pap, pa Pap Pap Pap), born July 7th, 1937, passed away peacefully at home on February 18th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Preceded in death are his Parents John and Dena Porr, Sisters Lylie Getz, and Laura Dial, and Brothers John Porr Jr., Bill Porr, Raymond Porr, and Gerry Porr. His beloved Wife Gladys Porr, Daughter Pamela Porr, and his dog Missy.
Fred was a retired ABF truck driver, and enjoyed his well-deserved retirement through gardening, bird watching, antiquing, going to hockey games, and other leisurely activities like reading and watching his favorite tv shows with his dog, Missy. Most importantly, he was a devoted Father, Pappy, and Great Pappy. He never missed a holiday, birthday, or an opportunity to cheer his Grandkids and Great Grandkids on in any hobby or sport they signed up for. He was the best cheerleader, a great neighbor and friend. He was the man we looked to for wisdom, and who we came to for help or advice. He loved life and appreciated all the small things that most of us miss. He was humble, selfless, and caring. Fred was an avid outdoorsman. From hunting to fishing and everything in between, he always had a great story to tell. He was an amazing storyteller.
Surviving to continue his great legacy are his Brother Richard Porr, Daughter Tamra Porr Cooper (Floyd Conklin Jr.), Son Fred Porr Jr. and family, Granddaughter’s Kara Cooper (AJ Burgos), Kristin Boyer (Jedd Boyer), Grandson Kasey Cooper (Katie Cooper), and five perfect Great Grandchildren he loved more than anything in the world, Ava Burgos, Sidney Boyer, Natalie Boyer, Colton Cooper, and Chloe Cooper.
Grave side services will be held March 5th, 2022, at 11am at the Highspire Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Harrisburg Area Humane Society where Fred adopted his beloved dog Missy, can be accepted in his name.
