TRIBUTE TO MY DEPARTED DEAR COUSIN, BROTHER AND FRIEND - CHIEF FRED CHUKWUNWIKE ASIEGBU - IDE OKPALANZE, ICHIE EZEANALU OF UMUNNACHI!

We were destined to be of the same root in a special way from the Ofodile family of Eziowelle. We enjoyed very cordial and special relationship throughout our stay in Jos and thereafter; till death snatched you from us as a messy 2024 Valentine's gift on 13th February. The message came to me early morning of the 14th of February through a call from our brother Sunday Asiegbu. It was devastating.

Here we are talking and planning about your burial on the 9th of April, 2024, meaning the message is correct that you've passed on to glory to rest in the bosom of our Lord who you loved and served dedicatedly through your church activities as and when the need arose for you. May He accommodate you peacefully in appreciation. Amen.

In life, your Industry, Humility, and Love, were incomparable.

Shall we forget KENTURKY STORES in Jos? You were dogged and quite focussed so early in life when some of your mates were still being pampered and unsure of what they needed out of life. You left no opportunity to slip off your hands as you started investing that early at the beckon of every chance. As a wise young man you were, you spread your investments back home, not concentrating in Jos alone. The results speak for themselves.

You were a good family leader God blessed you to be in Asiegbu's large family. Your wisdom yielded good dividends by the success stories of your siblings for whom you stood as Ide Ji Uno. I salute them for being good and obedient and supportive followers. You were not Ide OKPALANZE for nothing because your roles even at Umunnachi level were recognized by Igwe Nnachi I, Chief Felix E. Onochie, who later elevated you to the rank of Ichie Ezeanalu, following your rising profiles.

In terms of humility, you had no match. You were always ready to serve; and you really served dedicatedly.

Just on the 29th of December, 2023, during the ceremonies marking the marriage and wedding of your second daughter, Vivian, you were all over to ensure that nobody was left unattended to. I saw you so strong that period that it beats me hollow how death sneaked in to pick you so soon after!

Worthy of note that it was from your yams barn which you personally harvested that you sourced the many tubers of sizeable yams to settle Ndi Ogo as tradition required. I noted and appreciated your sense of achievement at that ability. Kudos!! No mistake calling you an All Weather Man!!! I marvel a great deal looking around your compound to admire all the fruiting trees you personally planted. You were full of foresight and action. All these you've left behind to form part of what you'll be remembered for, exemplified by the Anglican Hymn, Abu 239 - "Nagafe Dika Kpakpando nke Ututu......Nani Olu Anyi Lulu Ka Aga Eji Cheta Anyi". Incidentally, you've done a lot for which you'll be remembered. You've done so well that we and those living after us will remember you for your good deeds.

Fred, you were excellent. I can't skip this testimony. Permit me to recall this special incident in the early 1970s. You travelled home from Jos at the time I was resident in Potiskum in the now Yobe State. My wife was planning to return to Potiskum from Eziowelle, and the coincidence occurred that you picked her and our son, on the understanding that from Jos you'll find them a means to Potiskum, which was more than enough favour. You went beyond that to continue the journey with them to Potiskum, a distance of 147 miles. You did it selflessly to my utmost surprise. Only people who know the route then can appreciate the value of this favour. What an act of benevolence and love. Remain ever blessed. We miss you Fred.

All through, till the 13th of February, 2024, you had always carried me along in most of your family plans showing marks of trust and confidence. I appreciate and treasure! I trust that the links so far established would further be cemented even after us.

God bless you for all those jovial ways you chose to dismiss thorny and annoying issues. They taught me a lot of lessons. I'm sure many of our associates also benefitted. Thanks a lot.

I took time to review our WhatsApp chats. Your last was on the 5th of February, after my request for Udala fruits you normally parcelled to me through Justin or Chike Onochie.

The review was very useful. From there I noted with nostalgia some of your last noble acts. You were the leader of the family train that travelled for Sr Dr Justina Onochie's burial. So kind of you. I saw my cousins, your nephews and nieces, surround you pleasantly, happy you were with them at Abeokuta/Lagos. I'm sure they'll ever cherish you.

There were also these pictures and videos showing where you deputized for the current Igwe Nnachi on an occasion he was unavoidably absent. That was part of trust you attracted to yourself from onset. No one sensed the days were running out in the light of all above assignments well executed.

Here again I'll visit this touching Catholic song - Olusigo Onabago, naa nudo...Ezigbo Nwannem nhulu n'anya, ole mgbe anyi geji hu Anya ozo? Laa n'udo.

To the family you left behind, May God protect and guide them in all their ways and endeavours. Same for all your brothers and sisters families - Asiegbus, Onochies, Nonyelus. Take heart all of you and pray fervently for the repose of Fred's beautiful and kind soul.

A TRIBUTE TO OUR CO-ORDINATOR AND BROTHER LATE CHIEF FRED ASIEGBU

We the entire members of Father Tansi Solidarity Movement Jos Branch (Fatima Chapter) never in our wildest dreams did or ever dreamed that by now you would be no more with us again, because we just spoke few days ago concerning our Patron Feast Blessed Michael Iwene Tansi which comes up every 20th January. Before we received the shocking news that your are gone to your creator. It is so hard to and agonizing to us. Sir Fred Asiegbu, What a shock.

Writing this is difficult because it's never easy to explain our life time 's worth of memories in a speech.

Our brother, Mentor, Promoter, Director, Sir Fred Asiegbu, you told us that we should not allow the light of Father Tansi Movement that is in our hands to get cool. Even as you settled at your home town Umunnachi you kept communicating with us as you promised, hoping the day church we finally announce the "Canonization of Blessed Michael Iwene Tansi" But where are you?!!!.

No wonder, the Bible admonish us in Luke 12:15 "watch and guard yourself from every kind of greed, because a person 's life is not made up of things he owns no matter how rich he may be".

We can't question God, but we thank God for so far that were together with you on earth. You may have passed on but your memories would forever live on within us.

Thanks for your sacrifices, Care and concerns towards our Blessed Iwene Tansi Movement (Fatima Chapter) .

We pray that through the intercession of Blessed Michael Iwene Tansi, that God will grant you eternal rest, Amen.
