Frank's obituary
FRANK ALVIN MORGAN JR.
July 12, 1955- June 27, 2024
We regret to announce the passing of Frank Alvin Morgan Jr., 68, who passed away
peacefully at home on June 27, 2024, in Lucas, Texas after battling a long illness.
Frank was born in Warren, Ohio on July 12, 1955, to Frank Alvin Morgan Sr. and Jane
Lee Morgan. As a child, Frank and his family moved often because of his father’s work,
but finally settled in Colorado Springs, CO in 1965. There, he attended the Air Force
Academy High School where he met his lifelong friend, Nelson Downs. Frank graduated
from High School in 1973 and went on to join the United States Navy where he was
later discharged for medical reasons. Frank did not let that stop him; he went on to
pursue a career in surveying in the Denver area before retiring. After retiring Frank lived
in the Colorado Springs and Woodland Park, CO areas before settling in Lucas, Texas
in 1996.
Frank was an incredible artist who enjoyed spending his time drawing and doing crafts.
From magnificent string art murals to simple pencil sketch drawings, his art was always
a marvel to see. One of his greatest masterpieces was a huge model train display that
he and his father spent years building together in their home. The model train tracks
weaved through tiny villages, mines, tunnels, rolling hills, crowded cities and a complete
circus including operating rides. Frank and his father spent years designing, hand
painting, and building their beloved train model.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Jane Morgan and is survived by
his three sisters Kathleen Peele, Cynthia Adams, Peggy (Joseph) Van Havermaat, 6
nephews, 2 nieces and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
