Frank's obituary
- Frank Christopher Mini, age 61, succumbed to a sudden illness and passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 2:06am in Lake County, Ill.
Born on August 11, 1960 to Evo and Carol Mini in the tiny military town of Niort, France, baby "Chris" was extremely sick and born premature. Wrongly diagnosed with leukemia, he was given his last rites by the French hospital. His parents were able to get him to the American doctors, where he recuperated in an incubator for a month before going home.
With a sparse living area, Carol had only a transistor radio for her son so she spent hours upon hours reading to him. Chris grew to be highly intelligent and of course, an avid reader. He was also fascinated with the city, with his first words being, "lights."
Back in the States, Chris would continue to venture around the country with a military-oriented family, finally settling in Waukegan, a suburb of Chicago, not far from his dad's hometown.
After graduating High School at Denver's George Washington in 1983, he attended audio engineering school in hopes of getting professionally involved in music. A true audiophile, if he wasn't reading you could find him with his headphones blasting his favorite music, spending time with his sweet cat "Buddy", or watching The Chicago Cubs with Diane, his beloved girlfriend of 13 years.
He went to work for the city's telephone and cable companies for over 25 years and after he retired, kept his enduring hobbies. He loved his garden, growing cactuses, building models, and having company to talk baseball or music. He was a simple, yet complex and highly sensitive, loving man.
He is preceded in death by his only sister Kelly Mini and brother Daniel Mini.
