Frank Maynard's obituary
Frank Maynard Hawkins, 76 of Libertytown, MD, retired in Lyman, SC, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 19, 2023. Frank was born in Takoma Park, MD to Mary and James W. Hawkins, Sr. He attended Wheaton High School and was a member of the Kensington VFD Company 18.
Frank married the love of his life and best friend Joanne Giannini, and together they had three children, James Michael (Jimmy), Angell (Hawkins Borda), and Brandy (Culbertson). He is survived by wife, Joanne, daughters Angell and Brandy, son-in-law, Rich, grandchildren: Dustin, Angelica, Christian, Cade, and Lily, brother James W. Hawkins, nephew Frank W. Hawkins, and great-grandchildren: Enzo, Amari, and Iris. He was preceded in death by son Jimmy Hawkins, mother Mary Mae Hawkins, father James W. Hawkins, brother-in-law Michael Giannini, Jr., sister-in-law, Bonnie Coker, and great-granddaughter Nora. Frank is also survived by brother-in-law Antonio Giannini and wife, sister-in-law Barbara Giannini, & many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as many dear friends.
He retired from Lorien Assisted Living as maintenance supervisor at Lorien Assisted Living and worked for Carroll County Government as a maintenance supervisor, a job coach at CHANGE, Inc., a professional landscaper, and owned landscaping company, J.A.B. Landscaping.
He loved fishing with his family, spending summers in Deep Creek Lake, listening to live music, especially Jazz & Blues (and Willie Nelson), he also enjoyed watching old western movies and comedies, tending to his yard, and fixing anything and everything. He used to work on a horse farm and loved to go to races at Charlestown Racetrack. Frank was deeply proud of his Oglala Sioux Indian Nation heritage. He was also a loyal member of many Native American organizations: Red Cloud Indian School, St. Joseph's Indian School, St. Labre Indian School, St. Michael's Special Education, and Running Strong for American Indian Youth.
We welcome all of Frank’s family and friends to join us for a Celebration of Life that will be held on Saturday, June 10 from 1-3 PM at Sullivan Hall St. Peter's at 9201 Green Valley (Rt.75), Libertytown, MD.
