Frank's obituary

Frank Jerome Hughes Sr., age 60 of DeSoto, TX , has peacefully transition to his heavenly home on Tuesday October 29, 2024, at UT Southwestern Medical Center , Dallas, Texas

Frank, became the beloved fifth son born to the union of Edith & Allen Hughes, Sr. on August 9, 1964 in Blackstone, VA. Allen Hughes, Sr. precedes him in death. He became a proud father in 1996, a loving PaPa in 2014. He has been and will always be a loved, younger brother.

Frank graduated from Nottaway High School in 1983, to then join the Armed Forces serving in the United States Army. In 1984 -1990 980 the Combat Engineering Unit, Waco, TX. He then was a civilian cook, on Fort

Hood Army base 17 th Engineer Dining Facility, until 1990. He eventually settled in Dallas Texas, making a career in transportation as a truck driver. He was with Averitt Trucking Co. for at least 20 years. He was recently employed with Woodgrain Trucking Company until October 18, 2024. He was a member at Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, TX, where he served with the Greeters Ministry.

He was a sports fan in particular baseball. If many of you haven’t noticed he is a big New York Yankees fan, also a fan of Philadelphia Eagles.

To this day, “Big Hurt”, as he was affectionately called continue to play in adult softball leagues, throughout the many teams. He is loved by his teammates, and softball community. What seem like such little effort the ball would fly off the bat, such that by the year 2001 he acquire the name “Big Hurt”.

The loving memory of Frank will forever be cherished by his wife Valerae Hughes, Sons Frank (Deanna) Hughes Jr, Jonathan Young, Xavier Washington. Daughter Alexandria Washington. Grandchildren Arianna Hughes, Lillian Hughes, and Frank Hughes, III. Mother Edith Hughes.

Brothers Thomas(Charlotte) Hughes, Larry (Joyce) Hughes, David (Barbara) Hughes, Allen (Donna) Hughes, Jr. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends that were very dear to him.
