Frank's obituary

Frank Harry Holden, age 81, passed away on December 12, 2022 in Jurupa Valley, California.

Frank was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Frank and Ana Mae Holden on April 19, 1941. The family moved to Mira Loma, California around 1947. At this time Frank had three sisters, Lillian, (now deceased), Geraldine, and Margaret (now deceased). Frank attended local schools beginning with old Eastvale Elementary and moved on to Corona High School where he graduated in 1959. Following high school Frank worked at various jobs until deciding to join the army in 1961. After active duty he completed his reserve duty while attending Chaffey Junior College earning his certification in civil engineering (drafting). He then began his 30-year career as a draftsman and surveyor for Western Aerial Surveys in Riverside California. After several years Frank and two of his fellow workers bought a business and formed a partnership. In 1970 he met Dorothy Mathern who he married in 1971. Together they raised three sons, Edward, Patrick, and Michael. Over the years, Frank enjoyed camping, fishing, and vacations with his family. He also proudly supported his sons’ various sports activities. He was very involved in St. Mel Parish and school events especially while his sons attended St. Mel Elementary School. Frank was a member of the St. Mel Knights of Columbus as well as the Knights at St. Oscar Romero Parish in Eastvale, California. Over the years Frank’s gift in gardening was evident in the luscious tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers he grew in his garden. Frank is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Dottie, his sister Geraldine, of Arizona, and his three sons, Edward (wife Lori), Patrick (wife Vanessa) and Michael (wife Dena), along with four Grandchildren, Sara & Sean of San Diego, California, Matthew of Norco, California, and Ethan of Georgetown, Texas. Frank succumbed to cancer December 12, 2022. The Holden family is most appreciative to the nurses and personnel of Healing Care Hospice, all who demonstrated extraordinary kindness and care, and to his primary physician Dr. Shahin who cared for Frank for nearly thirty years.
