Cliff's obituary
Miller, Frank Clifford (Cliff) passed away on March 13, 2023 in Melbourne Beach Florida, in his 92nd year. Born in Avonlea Saskatchewan on June 15th 1931, Cliff was the husband of Wendy Maureen Miller (nee Toll) and the beloved, cherished and admired father and hero of Todd (Dina), Jason(Leah) and Jody (John). Dearest Bompa of Jacquie, Ross, Dylan, Kyle, Braydon and Georgia. Son of the late Reverend Clifford and Neta Miller. Predeceased by his sister Gay (Harry) and brother Don (Peg). Survived by his brother-in-law Brian (Lynda) Toll and his many cherished nieces and nephews.
Cliff was born in rural Saskatchewan during the great depression, the son of a United Church Minister Cliff had a humble beginning, where he learned that your most important blessing is your family. At a young age, his family moved to the Cambridge/Galt area of Ontario where he resided until he moved to Toronto to attend University of Toronto earning a teaching degree. Cliff then went to work as a teacher and soon after, he met and fell love with Wendy while they were both in the choir at Parkdale United Church. They were married in 1965 and went on to have three children. Cliff’s most important accomplishment, and the one he was most proud of, was his family. Some of his greatest joy came from his 3 children and later his 6 grandchildren.
Over the years he spent quality time with them all creating many memories at his dream home that backed onto West Deane Park in Etobicoke, in his winter residence in Melbourne Beach Florida and at the family cottage on Sparrow Lake. He lovingly taught them all the intricacies of golf, the quiet wonders of the cottage, the exhilaration of having the water beneath your skis, the magic in the deep bass of a song, the joy in the stillness of waiting for a fish to bite your hook, and what an amazing, dependable, selfless and proud parent looked like.
Cliff was a kind and thoughtful man who will be remembered fondly by any who knew him, including his many friends, neighbours, students and the countless other lives that he touched.
A celebration of life will be held at St. James United Church, 400 Burnhamthorpe Rd in Etobicoke, on Saturday, May 27th at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, Cliff’s wish was that any donations in his memory would be made to his beloved St. James United Church. https://www.stjamesunitedchur…
