Frank's obituary

Frank Richard “Chip” Clementi, March 23, 1942 – May 25, 2024

Frank was born in Tampa, Florida to Frank Bruno and Norma Clementi. He grew up in a small but close-knit community in West Tampa where he loved to spend time at Watermelon Creek with his buddies or climbing trees at MacFarland Park. Chip attended MacFarland Park Elementary, West Tampa Junior High, and Jefferson High School. He attended the University of South Florida, made a trip with the Merchant Marines, and eventually went to work for Reynolds/Ball Aluminum factory in Tampa.

Together with his first wife, Darlyn Ferguson, Frank had four children. He was predeceased by his oldest son, Frank “Chippy” Clementi Jr, and his only daughter, Wendy Clementi. He is survived by sons Clifton Clementi (spouse Michelle) and Brigham Clementi. Frank is also survived by David Richard Clementi (spouse Michele) – his son with second wife, Rosanne Gutkin Clementi.

He not only loved his children but also his grandchildren and great grandchild. He is survived by five grandsons, Jeremy Clementi, Cassidy Harding, Levi Clementi, Ellis Clementi, Jude Clementi, one granddaughter Casey Pritchett, and one great grandson Gardner Harding.

Frank is also survived by sister Frances Clementi Hopf (spouse Mike), as well as many cousins who will all miss his phone calls and visits.

Chip loved aviation and flying. He took every opportunity to fly to visit family and friends whenever he could. Two of his regular flying visits were to his cousin Charles in Virginia and his cousin Gina in South Carolina.

He was an avid hunter and conservationist. He also was a very talented designer and contractor. Chip had a very generous and loyal spirit, especially with his family. He and his cousins Frances Clementi Scaglione and Judy Clementi Strickland had daily phone conversations and if it was cucuzza squash season, they would be comparing recipes and eating it for several days at a time.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 pm on June 30 at the Zephyrhills Train Depot Museum – 39110 South Ave, Zephyrhills, FL 33542. Because he dearly loved aviation, the family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations be made to the EAA Young Eagles aviation program or general scholarship fund in honor of Frank Clementi.
