Frank's obituary
Frank Arthur Baker, 69, of Bremerton, Washington, passed away on April 11, 2023 in Silverdale, Washington, surrounded by family. He was born on April 22, 1953.
He attended Ramona Elementary, Joseph Le Conte Middle School, Hollywood High School and Ulysses S. Grant High School, graduating in 1970. Frank went on to graduate Cum Laude with an Associate in Arts degree from Los Angeles Valley College in 1975.
Frank grew up in the South and North Hollywood neighborhoods of Los Angeles and was the only child of singer, actress and pianist, Sylvia H. Beardall and business owner and WWII Veteran, Raymond D. Baker. He had a very independent spirit and at a young age, participated in Boy Scouts where he developed a passion for exploring and the great outdoors. His love of adventure continued throughout his life with numerous camping and road trips across the United States along with vacations throughout Canada, Europe, Japan, Mexico and beyond.
Frank entered the working world earlier than most, managing his father’s hobby shop in Los Angeles many days of the week after elementary and middle school. As a young adult, he found himself working in film studios, at gas stations, car dealerships and for the U.S. Postal Service. He entered into real estate shortly after moving to the Bay Area and it was a natural fit. As a longtime realtor, broker and accomplished salesman known for his honest candor and friendly nature, Frank was honored with many awards throughout his long career in real estate.
A voracious reader and history savant, Frank was extremely knowledgeable on a wide variety of subjects and historical events. In fact, he was able to recall many insightful details about world leaders and important events that helped his daughter prepare for - and ace - her college history exams. A historical fiction and mystery novel enthusiast, he enjoyed reading six books at a time, leaving no page left unturned. He even built a library at home that completely overflowed with all the books he devoured.
His curiosity, ambition and determination were limitless as he pursued his interests, serving as an inspiration to many of his friends. Frank loved to travel the world to experience new cultures and cuisines. He was also fond of buying and racing cars on the streets of Los Angeles in his younger years. He deeply enjoyed attending concerts as well as local and international sporting events for his favorite teams (Seattle Seahawks, Mariners, Kraken and WSU Cougars). Frank always found innovative opportunities to make life interesting and in his later years, he even worked local and international pet-sitting jobs to try something new.
Frank is survived by his wife of 26 years Connie Baker, his daughter Shannon Baker, step-daughters Kelli Juan and Michelle Morrill as well as their respective partners, Michael Dunaway, Justin Juan and Conner Anderson. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
An intimate celebration of life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the Baker family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or AIM at Melanoma Foundation to fund Melanoma research.
