Frank had a quick sense of humor and frequently kept us laughing. Frank was a talented cook and when he invited you to dinner, there would always be 10 times more food offered than the people in attendance could possibly eat.
I met Frank in the late 1990's. Back then he walked with a painful limp from a hip injury, yet hiking was still one of his hobbies. Soon after he was able to get a surgery to repair his hip, and he was out biking within days and hiking more than ever. Besides being outdoors, Frank always sought out live music, many times traveling across the country to see his favorite bands.
