Frank Abdul‑Rahmaan Sr., 80, passed away on April 19, 2026, in Oakland. Born in West Oakland to Charlie and Esther Jenkins, he graduated from McClymonds High School and went on to earn both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. He was a proud member of the State Bar of California and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
He built a distinguished career as a self‑employed attorney, establishing practices in Oakland, Los Angeles, and San Jose, serving his community with integrity, dedication, and purpose.
Beyond his legal work, Frank was an artist, poet, singer, teacher, and devoted reader with a lifelong interest in philosophy and religion. A passionate sports enthusiast, he coached football and track for his children and mentored countless young people through Pop Warner and high school programs, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessica Abdul Rahmaan; his parents, Charlie and Esther Jenkins; and his siblings Arthur, Alvin, Charlie, Hilda, Velma, and Rose.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children Esther Abdul‑Rahmaan, Anjail Abdul‑Rahmaan, Ayyub Abdul‑Rahmaan, and Frank Abdul‑Rahmaan Jr.; his daughter‑in‑law Tyree Abdul‑Rahmaan; and his granddaughter Sanari Abdul‑Rahmaan. Frank will be remembered for his strength, wisdom, creativity, and unwavering commitment to uplifting others.
