Fox's obituary
Fox (Francis) Yeager was a loving son, brother, friend, husband, and father. Many remember him best for the witty zingers he snuck into conversation, and the quirked little smile he held while waiting for everyone else to catch on to the joke.
He spent most of his youth with his family in Oswego, NY. His siblings and life-long friends helped him get into mischief more than a few times. As a young man he earned his BA in Economics from SUNY Oswego, where he also met his bride-to-be, Gigi Clark. Shortly after their first date, Fox was sent overseas to be a radio teletype in Vietnam. He served honorably while holding on to his desire for peace.
When he returned to the States, Fox attended SUNY Buffalo to earn his MBA while courting Gigi in Oswego. After a short time together in Buffalo, the newlyweds moved to Newburyport, MA, where they were blessed with their first child, Erik.
Fox spent the next 32 years in Glenville, NY, where he provided for his family (now including daughter Alyssa) as an insurance underwriter. Writing policies was never a passion of his, but he did love the more creative writing of the annual Christmas family novella. He also enjoyed playing and creating all kinds of games. Good luck challenging him to a game of Boggle. And watch out for the ever-changing rules of inventions like “6-card shlub” and “Stone-Master”.
In retirement, Fox and Gigi moved down to a wonderful senior community in Florida where pickleball and rock-steady boxing provided new entertainment, and Fox never had to shovel another driveway!
Baseball and softball were a big part of Fox’s life from pick-up street games as a child through his senior softball league. In 2024, he got to see his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers (AKA LA Dodgers) win the world series and his basketball team the Celtics take the NBA championship.
There are far too many other highlights in Fox’s life to capture them all here. Spending time with family in Oswego, camping vacations with his wife and kids, spiritual retreat weekends with prisoners in need, twisting the night away, bocce, reading, game nights with neighbors, and frequent soft ice cream stops are just a few of the things he loved.
Fox passed away peacefully at Treasure Coast Hospice, surrounded by people who love him still.
There will be a celebration of life at the Cascades Senior Community Tiki Bar on Thursday, March 13th beginning at 4 PM.
There will be a memorial service in Oswego, NY this summer.
