Frank's obituary
Francis (Frank) Louis Vogel (June 5, 1943 – January 27, 2023)
Frank was born in Detroit, Michigan to Francis and Maureen Vogel and grew up on Marlowe Street with his 7 siblings: Joan (late Latimer) Spinney, the late Judy Marmalade (Alan), Thomas (Christine), the late Michael, Maureen (late Gregory) Kelly, Richard, and the late Christopher.
He attended Catholic Central High School in Detroit and then continued on to attend college at The University of Detroit.
He is survived by his son Matthew (Simone) and his grandchildren Emerson, Keaton, and Carina. His daughter Beth Imrem (Marc) and grandchildren Kuper, Sylvi, and Liza. His son Francis Vogel.
Frank loved and cherished being a grandfather. He never missed a sporting event of his local grandchildren. Everyone in the local hockey community knew Grandpa Frank as he was a fixture along the glass at every game starting at Mite Hockey all the way through Brother Rice High School hockey. He relished seeing his grandchildren transition into young adulthood and took pride in all their accomplishments. As they affectionately called him “forever the homer” when it came to anything in their lives.
Frank always looked forward to the holidays which meant time with Beth and Marc, and his grandchildren Kuper, Sylvi, and Liza. He was proud of the family Beth and Marc raised in Evanston, Illinois, and proud of his grandchildren’s accomplishments and their characters.
In his later years, Frank loved living in St. Clair Shores along the lake and spending time with his son Frank in the park and their excursions in the area. He loved the nature and tranquility of the area which brought him peacefulness. He and his son Frank’s weekly ritual at the local diner for his favorite fish and chips was always an enjoyable and anticipated event.
A private memorial will take place at a later date to celebrate his life.
