Fritz's obituary
Fritz was born on January 7th, 1931 in Oxnard, California. He had an extraordinary mind for mechanics and mechanical design. After working as a manager and designer/installer of large farm irrigation systems in the San Joaquin Valley, he traveled all over the US, Canada and France as a manager, technician and research developer in the ski lift industry. In both of those industries he was an innovator who invented many devices and mechanical parts that are still used today. Fritz loved skiing, outdoors, and mountains so he remained in that industry until he retired in the 1990’s. He was also very artistic and over the years made many iron structures including the beautiful front gate at Camp Nelson Lodge.
Fritz was survived by his wife, Gladie Shellabarger, his three children, Chris Shellabarger, Michelle Roundy, and Blake Shellabarger as well as his three step children, Richard, Chris and Carlynn Barrientos. He had six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
