Francis's obituary
Francis Michael Pellino, age 83, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Clark, NJ passed away on February 22, 2022, under the care of AdventHealth Hospice. He was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1938, the son of Michael and Eleanor Pellino. He grew up in Bayonne, NJ and graduated from Bayonne High School in 1955. Francis enlisted in the United States Army in 1956 and was assigned to the 11th Army Cavalry Regiment in Straubing Germany. Francis was the lead trumpet player for the 83rd Army Band.
After his service in the Army, Francis started his lifelong career at Equitable Life Insurance Company in NYC. In 1961 he married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth Campbell, also of Bayonne, NJ. Together they welcomed their only daughter, Christine in 1963. He retired at the young age of 51, and in 1993 he moved with his wife to enjoy retirement on Amelia Island, FL.
Francis spent his time with dear friends at the Gran Centurions Italian American Club in Clark, NJ. He enjoyed many summers on his boat “Cheers” at the Jersey Shore. He enjoyed a passion for cars, was an avid reader, loved watching TV, was a wiz at Jeopardy, kept up on current events and loved The Five. Francis loved the United States of America and anything having to do with the military. Fran was known by many for always having a smile on his face, an infectious sense of humor, and a fondness for having a good time. Most importantly, “Poppe” loved his family. He had an especially close relationship with his daughter Christine, and he took great pride in his grandchildren.
Francis is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Eleanor Pellino; his beloved grandmother, Jenny Reynolds; his aunt, Regina Kenna; and brother, Michael Pellino. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Pellino; his daughter and son in law, Christine and Joseph Auriemma; his grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony, and Marissa Auriemma; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Diane Pellino; his sister-in-law, Kathleen Fiore; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April1, 2022 at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, 915 N Central Avenue, Flagler Beach, FL. A military burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
The family of Mr. Pellino entrusted his arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.
