Ed's obituary

Francis Edward Herron, affectionately known as Ed, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was 79 years old. Ed was born on January 19, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he spent his early years and developed a passion for agriculture and service to his country.

Ed proudly served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant and was a Vietnam Veteran who completed one deployment. His commitment to his country was a defining aspect of his life, reflecting values of honor and duty that stayed with him throughout his years.

Ed graduated from John Marshall High School in 1964. He continued his studies at Oklahoma State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1969. During his time at Oklahoma State, he not only honed his academic skills but also played baseball, was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, and was a member of the Army ROTC, showcasing his dedication to teamwork and competition.

Ed’s career was deeply rooted in the agricultural and cattle industry, a field in which he worked tirelessly throughout his life. He owned Lazy EH Cattle Feeders in Liberal, Kansas, making significant contributions to the industry. He later served as a video auction sales representative for Superior Livestock from 1999 until his retirement in 2019, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Ed was a devoted family man and is survived by his children, Hunter Herron, Drew Herron and his wife Heather, Dallas Broussard and her husband Steven Broussard, Lt. Col., USAF, Ret. He was a proud grandfather to Zayne Herron, Gracyn Herron, Hudson Herron, Caroline Broussard, and Charlotte Broussard. He also cherished his sister, Janie Daniels.

Ed’s legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Aileen Boehm Herron. As we reflect on his life, we honor the values he embodied: dedication to family, service to his country, and a lifelong commitment to his work in agriculture. His impact on those around him will be felt for generations to come.
