It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis Patrick Cantwell, who left us on February 16, 2023. Fran was born on June 11, 1952, the fourth child and second son of the late Sidney and Carol Cantwell. Throughout his life he illuminated the lives of those around him with his wit, easy-going demeanor, and gregarious nature.

Fran is survived by his son, Adam (Anna) Cantwell and granddaughter Oona, as well as his seven remaining siblings: Virginia Stevenson, Charles (Linda) Cantwell, Mary Shaw, Catherine Pearce,  John (Charlene) Cantwell, Anne (Larry) Solomon, and Diane (Michael) Corso, who will forever cherish the memories they shared. 

Always ready to pitch in and lend a helping hand, Fran imparted valuable lessons to those who were fortunate enough to know him. Though the path of his life was often rocky, he always did his best to rise above life's trials and learn from them. His belief that it's never too late to learn and explore inspired many to follow their passions and embrace new experiences, and perhaps look at the world from a different angle.

The accomplishment that filled Fran with the most pride was his son, Adam. Fran leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and imagination that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life for Fran will be held on July 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the home of Anne and Larry Solomon at 300 Cornell St. We invite you to come and remember the wonderful times spent with this extraordinary man. (Remembrances to be shared at 3:30 for both Fran and his previously deceased sister Gail McCann.)
