Frances's obituary
Frances Sue Walker age 94, of Knoxville passed away peacefully at her home on April 29, 2024, surrounded by friends and family. Born on December 27, 1929, to Maude and Mose Tuck, she was the youngest of six children.
Sue was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where she was active in Vacation Bible School, doing the monthly bulletin mailouts, cooking in the church kitchen and greeting church members or guests on Sundays as they came to worship with her warm sweet smile. She retired from Standard Knitting Mill where she and her best friend Barbara continued to stay in touch with their friends by assisting with the yearly reunion in August. Last year she was recognized as the oldest retiree.
Sue was loved by all who knew her and was known for her wonderful desserts - especially her pecan pies and chocolate-cherry cake. She never met a stranger, and her smile and kind heart will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Vickie cates, granddaughter Wendy Ashley (great grandchildren) Austin Ashley, Landon Ashley, Elizabeth Ashley , niece Jackie Sue Walker, her great niece and husband Missy and Gerry Jovel, their children, Jakob and Eva, and her best friend for over sixty years Barbara Donahue, who was more a sister than a friend and many special friends who were more like family and will be remembered as such.
She is preceded in death by her mother Maude Tuck, father Mose Tuck, husband Joseph Patton Walker, sisters Minnie Lee Fortenberry and Virgina Lou Tuck and brothers Edward, Raymond, and Hugh Tuck.
The family would like to thank all who sent cards, came to visit, prayed for Sue, and sent gifts and food. A very special thanks to the three caregivers who took such wonderful care of her during her last few weeks at her home.
