Fr. James's obituary
Originally from New York City, Jim had a great zest for life, and had many passions and past careers over his younger years, having been a theatrical agent, an ad salesperson and copywriter for the Wall Street Journal. a ballet dancer for the Neubert Ballet, a military chaplain for the N.Y. State Guard, the Pennsylvania State Guard, the New Mexico State Guard, and the Indiana State Guard over a period of 20 years, and became a certified Qi Gong Instructor. He loved horses, Celtic music, and Celtic Church history. He was a Lutheran pastor when he and his wife, Susan (Sue) married, and became an orthodox priest in 2000, and served at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Homewood Illinois for several years before establishing St. Joseph of Arimathea Orthodox House of Prayer in a chapel he built in his home in La Porte, Indiana. He counseled and mentored a great many people in their lives of faith, and had a particular gift for encouraging the lost, the seeking, the hurting and turning them to the love of God. He published a book, "The Transformed Life," with Pascha Press, which contiues to be a blessing to many. He is survived y wife Sue and daughter Alyssa.
