Rev. Forster's obituary
Forster graduated from Princeton University in 1947. He earned an M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in 1950 and a D.Min. in Spiritual Direction from Weston Jesuit School of Theology in 1984. He was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in 1950 and served as founding pastor of churches in New Milford, NJ; DeWitt, NY; and Amherst, NY. He had joint standing as a minister in the United Church of Christ and served as a UCC minister in Concord, MA and Berkeley, CA.
Forster sought a deeper realization of Christ’s teachings and was much loved by those he served. He was devoted to social justice and participated in the March on Selma in 1965. His book, "Readiness for Ministry Through Spiritual Direction", has been used as a seminary textbook.
He is survived by his children Leigh, Peter (Kathy), and Elizabeth Freeman and Anne (Brian) McGinley, sister Gwendolyn Buttermore, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, friend Karen Carlton, Goddaughter Sister Helen Banks, SLG, and many devoted friends.
