Floyd was always giving things away to others. He didn’t ask for anything in return.
In response to "What act of kindness did you witness from Floyd?"
Wrote this after dad passed, since he was unresponsive at the end I like to think that this is something he would've liked. I know it's what I would want to say, or people to know if I didn't get a chance to say it. I find it comforting.

                     "If I died today"

"If I died today, we'd miss out on all the things we'd want to say.
I love you, and I'm alright.
Let that get you through the night.
Life goes on, and you will too.
Just know that I'll miss you.
It's not goodbye forever.
One day, we'll be together.
God is my strength, and He's yours too.
Remember that when you're feeling blue.
I've had a good life, but I'm ready to rest.
I want nothing more for you, then the best.
God bless you and keep you safe.
Know that I loved you and I love you still.

And in time you will heal.

I'll always be with you, no matter what you do.
Hugs and kisses from heaven above.
You will always have my love."

                       Miss you dad!
A& W Root Beer
We would drive to Lovers Lane with taquitos and Root Beer and watch the city lights.

Kentucky fried chicken
In Colorado we would buy a bucket of chicken, drive up to the mountains and look down at the city.

Lotaburger
We would drive from Colorado on a weekend just for a lotaburger! My Auntie Theresa and Uncle Paul would think we were crazy! But Uncle Paul would check our tires and engine before heading back.

Burger chef
Floyd was the manager of one in Albuquerque but in Colorado he was in the Army, but He would have eating competitions my baby brother . At 10c a burger not too bad!

Floyd asked for my hand in marriage at age 17 but it wasn’t planned. Gerald my sister pushed him into it. Telling him my parents already knew he probably wanted to marry me. So he did.

He was the first one to introduce Me to chicken chow mein . Which looked gross to me! I grew up eating potatoes, beans and chili. That was our everyday food. Once in a while my mom could afford meat, but three kids on welfare didn’t get you much in the 1960s

Muffler
Our car had a muffler that always fell off! Floyd would be under the car for hours coming out saying , It won’t fall off this time! With pride.
Then down central the muffler falls off and he’s pulling over and running back into traffic to pick up a hot muffler. That muffler never stayed on, Floyd was always running after it! Lol

No wipers
Our car had wipers that refused to work when it rained! One night he came home from night school drenched from his head to the shoulders! He drove home from Albuquerque high school all the way up to central near coors with his head out the window in the rain because he couldn’t see without the wipers.

Billiards
We would spend hours with Steven and his wife playing pool on central. There was a fish and chips place there that was the best! Happy and fun times.

Snowbound
We decided to drive to Albuquerque from Colorado when it started to snow real bad. Well of course the car had to breakdown! We had one sleeping bag and our coats. Floyd was fearful to sleep because we were stuck in a snow storm. He wasn’t afraid for himself but fearful that if he slept someone could catch us off guard and he was protective.
He told me you take the sleeping bag and sleep in the back seat. He won’t come with me. He kept saying he would be ok that he was warm enough. He wasn’t. We had no heat!
Well he started making fun of me and saying you looked so warm under that sleeping bag while I was freezing! He laughed and it stayed a joke over me til Christmas time 2019 when he told me again. Raymond and Uncle Paul pulled the car. But Floyd and I had to hitchhike a ride to ABQ. God was with us.

Well, we made some beautiful memories and those are some of what I want to remember. Bad times, hard times no longer matter. Just the Love does.

He left me with three beautiful gems. That kind of love never ends. Might get sidetracked but it never ends.

I love you Floyd! Always have and forever will. Here’s where you would say I love you too and I would respond with a smile and say I know...

Thank you for loving Alicia as your own. She grew to love you as her Daddy Floyd and she’ll always love you too.

We know your address, we’ll see you again when God calls us home. Blessings in Christ Jesus always.

I used to tell dad he was my captive audience and he had no choice but to listen to me sing because he couldn't escape.

I have so many memories of Floyd he was a big part of my of my life. He was always around trying to catch my sister which he did!(lol!) I'll always remember when they got married and I said big sister I want to go with you on your honeymoon she said NO! He said its ok she could come🥰these r a few memories of his humor. He always sang to us in the car listening to Elvis Presley he sounded just like him! With the eyebrow lift n lip move 😀He also loved to grab our hand in a store or wherever n start singing out loud or residing the Pledge allegiance!🙃He was the best many times took me n my brother to live with them which ever state he was stationed in well me more🥰😊I'll will miss his cooking n miss cooking for him at holidays. He was a great brother in law and a friend I'll miss u so much, love you always your Frog.😔May God bless you in your journey home ❤🙏
I’m always going to remember him coming over and teaching me how to decorate cakes, make gingerbread houses, and frostings.
The times we laughed as he shared stories while showing me how to make designs with royal frosting or gum paste.
Or when I would massage his shoulders for five dollars as he told me about different things he had made over the years.
Making heads out of paper mache and balloons for Halloween.
Going to what-a-burger after church on Wednesday nights, or him coming by unexpectedly with little gifts (many still in my room to this day, others packed away for safe keeping).
I’ll miss him calling me Miss Daisy as he drove or sat together.
His smile, laugh, the way he joked and made faces always made people smile.
I learned a lot from him, baking only being a small part.
I learned to always be generous and give things from the heart, and share what I’ve learned with others freely and with patience.
He’ll always be in my heart.
Love you Daddy Floyd 😘
