Floyd's obituary
Floyd Bernard Bell Jr, 78 years old, of St. Peters, MO went home to be with the Lord on May 21, 2023.
Floyd was born to Floyd Sr. & Gertrude Bell on February 4, 1945 in St. Louis, MO. He graduated from McBride High School & continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering degree from St. Louis University.
Floyd married Kathleen Moriarty on October 12, 1968; they were married 54 exciting & glorious years. Floyd was a loving & dedicated husband, father, & grandfather - spending time with his growing family was one of his greatest joys. He also enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River, traveling, taking on new adventures, & was incredibly generous with his time, knowledge & resources – sharing with anyone who needed it. Throughout his life, Floyd held an unwavering faith in God, sharing the love & faithfulness of Jesus with as many people as possible. Recently if you were to call Floyd, he would have answered the phone, “This is Floyd, do you know Jesus?”.
After graduating from SLU, Floyd worked for Trane Air & earned his private pilot’s license while training in Wisconsin - he was able to fly Kathleen on their honeymoon to Florida. Floyd ran his grandfather’s steel fabrication business in St. Louis for over 30 years & then started his own consulting business – with each position (over 50 years combined) he devoted his knowledge & skills to design, fabricate, erect & inspect a variety of steel vessels as well as consulting other firms along the way. He designed & built 3 boats as well as their family home in St. Peters, where they raised their 5 children. Floyd was always on a mission to improve on himself & loved sharing what he learned with those around him – especially when it came to the promises of God & living a healthy life.
Floyd joins his parents, Floyd Sr. & Gertrude in heaven. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his sisters & brother (Mary Ann, Steven, & Joan), his 5 children; Merredith (Kurt), Floyd (Jennifer), Kelly (Shane), Gertrude (John Paul), & Christine (Tom) as well as his 14 grandchildren, Liam, Adelaide, Abigail, Cameron, Ethan, Annabelle, Kate, Freddie, Sienna, George, Edith, Amelia, Vivian, & Henry.
