Florentina Cruz Fernandez, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 4, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born on October 16, 1953, in Bulacan, Philippines, Florentina lived a life defined by resilience, hard work, and generosity. At the age of 19, she immigrated to the United States and began her career in the medical field in Detroit. As the first sibling to establish a new life in America, she paved the way for others and set a powerful example of courage and perseverance.

Florentina built a warm and welcoming home filled with hundreds of plants, cherished family photographs and, home cooked meals. Known for her caring spirit, strong values, and joyful presence, she touched countless lives with her infectious smile and kindness.

She cherished her family above all else, instilling the importance of giving, compassion and, perseverance. She will be remembered for her selfless heart and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. In addition to her family life, Florentina was a loyal and dedicated employee at Henry Ford Hospital for more than 20 years and Mercy Hospital for over 20 years prior to.

She is survived by her sons, Ryan and Cyrene, daughter-in-law Gina, beloved granddaughter Sophie Marie; her sisters Myrna, Digna, Marilou, Nancy and Gina; brothers Quirino, Rodrigo and Rogelio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felipe, brother Tony, sister Amelia and loving parents Rufino and Eufrocina Cruz.
