Florence's obituary
Florence May Long, age 84, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away on March 19, 2022, at the age of eighty-four. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Brown, and Florence Brown; her brother Melvin Brown Jr.; and her sister Joyce Snitker. Florence is survived by her son, John Long; her daughter-in-law, Leonie Long; her daughter, Susan; and her brother, John Brown. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Alex Riggs, Ashley Riggs, Breanna Hunter, Quintin Hunter; and three great-grandchildren; Mystaree Riggs, Jaxon Riggs, and Riley Riggs.
In Florence's youth, she drove a Powder Puff Derby midget car for racing veteran A.J. Foyt, she was also a crack shot with a 12-gauge shotgun, an Adult's Sunday school teacher, Children's Bible School teacher, and gave her time to charities like the March of Dimes. Florence started as a buyer for Sears and Roebuck in Kansas City, MO during a time when women were underpaid and discriminated against in a male-dominated corporate work environment and worked her way up the corporate ladder to finish a retired award-winning national sales executive Vice President reporting directly to the CEO of TRC in addition to training TRC's national sales staff. Florence Long loved many and was loved by many.
Florence was also engaged and active in the Southern Baptist church and she was looked up to as a teacher and a mentor among her peers. Florence was a great lady who will be missed by so many of the people whose lives she impacted in so many ways over her lifetime.
