Flo's obituary
Flo-Ann Marie Vecchiotti Rolleri, 81, of Rye Brook NY, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on June 23rd, 2024. Flo-Ann was born in Bronx, NY to Joseph Nicolas Vecchiotti and Marie Teresa Mele Vecchiotti on May 19th, 1943.
Flo-Ann grew up surrounded by her family and beloved by all. She attended Good Counsel Academy for High School and Elizabeth Seton College for her undergraduate. Flo-Ann was also a Westchester debutante who had her debut at the Waldorf Astoria, a legacy that she was very proud to be a part of.
Flo-Ann met the love of her life, Donald Anthony Rolleri when she was just 15 years old. They met at a sweet sixteen when Donny inadvertently insulted her cooking. The resulting confrontation led to Donny asking Flo to dance. From that moment on they enjoyed a fabulous 66 year relationship and 60 years of marriage, a milestone that they celebrated with family and friends on June 20th, 2024.
Flo was a self-motivated “go-getter” who always worked; first she worked with Electrolux company, where she started as a secretary, but quickly rose to executive head secretary to the manager of the entire Northeast region of the corporation. Then she worked for Mr. Orville Kenneth Stout, known as OK Stout, one of the most important men in the Electrolux company, as the Chief Administrative Assistant. This made Flo the most important female in the company. She worked at Electrolux for six years, at which point she became a mother. After becoming a mother, Flo worked as an assistant manager, make -up artist and bookkeeper at Glen-Be shops, she had a brief stint as a bank teller at Chase bank (which ended when she realized that banks sometimes get robbed) and then finally, Flo went into the food industry where she found her true calling: sales. After years of successfully working in the food industry Flo-Ann eventually retired to take care of her grandchildren which became “the best job of her entire life”. Once her grandchildren were grown, Flo-Ann simply had too much energy to remain retired, so she became a real-estate agent, where she enjoyed finding people places to call home for over 20 years and was known as one of the best.
Though Flo-Ann loved being a saleswoman, her most precious thing in life was her family. She treasured every moment she had with them and always looked for ways to be involved in their lives. As a parent, Flo was unwaveringly devoted to her daughters Kim and Kara and described them as her “very best friends”. As a grandparent, Flo was larger than life, and no one would dare to describe her as “a typical grandma.” Her grandchildren often compete over who has the best “Mamie Story.”
Flo-Ann was also blessed to have wonderful friends who were like an extended family to her. They were together through it all and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Flo is lovingly remembered and will be very dearly missed. She spent her life bringing joy and happiness to others and she had a love for life that was unmatched by any other. Whether it was her work as a real-estate agent at Weichert, talking herself out of a speeding ticket, or partying with her friends until dawn, Flo put 110% into everything she did. She approached every moment as if it were her last, enjoying every second of every day. She always made things fun, exciting (even at times complicated) and never boring. All of us will have to work hard to keep the party going in her honor.
Flo-Ann was preceded in death by her father Joseph Nicolas Vecchiotti, her mother Marie Teresa Mele Vecchiotti, and her sister Valerie Vecchiotti. She is survived by her husband Donald Anthony Rolleri, her sisters Deanna Vecchiotti Corona and Lisa Vecchiotti Schiano, her daughters Kimberly Rolleri Salvatore married to Bryan Salvatore and Kara Rolleri Berghaus married to Richard Berghaus, as well as her four grandchildren: Tayler Salvatore, Connor Salvatore, Kaylie Berghaus and Kevin Berghaus.
