Estell “Fleetie”'s obituary
It is with solemn hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Fleetie Johnson King. Born on the cusp of a new century on June 30, 1898, Fleetie embraced a life rich with experiences that spanned the better part of a century, until her peaceful departure on March 24, 1974.She was born to the late Mr. Ulee and Tamer Bethea-Johnson of Marion, S.C.
She was joined in Holy Wedlock to Mr. Charlie King of Georgetown, S.C., and to this union five children were born. Three of who preceded her in death, two sons, Howard and Willie Lee King, and a daughter, Katie Bridgers.
She joined Mount Pisgal Baptist church and worked faithfully. She later joined the Household of Faith Church. She was always willing to do all she could for her church. Her departing words were to her grandson Donald, “I am going to work today, but this is my last day I will have to work.
As we mourn the of Fleetie, we also celebrate the longevity and depth of her life, recognizing the impact she had on those around her. In these moments of remembrance, may we find comfort and peace.
She leaves to mourn a loving husband, Mr. Charlie King, two daughters, Mrs. Mildred “Milburn” King Gurley, Marion, S.C., and Mrs. Tona Annie L. King Smith, Pittsburg, PA., eleven grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
We celebrate the Memoriam of Mrs. Estell Fleetie Johnson King proceedings by Elder G. W. Chambers, Pastor, at the Hosehold of Faith Holiness Church on Sunday, March 31, 1974 at 4:00P.M., Marion, South Carolina.
