Fidel's obituary
Born on September 11, 1939, in Gattaran, Cagayan, Philippines, Fidel Foster Pinzon, Jr. was lovingly known as “Jun” and “Papa Jun” by friends and family. He was the cherished son of Fidel Pinzon and Amparo Foster.
Jun's education began at St. Paul Kindergarten College of Tuguegarao, Luna Elementary School, and Luna Academy High School. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, with degrees in pre-med and medicine in 1963.
In 1964, Jun immigrated to America. He interned at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, completed a surgical residency at Sydenham Hospital in Harlem, New York, and completed a five-year pathology residency at Coney Island Hospital. During his time in New York, he bought his first American muscle car, enjoying drives around the greater New York area as an escape from his hectic residency schedule. He became board-certified in anatomical and clinical pathology in 1972.
That same year, Jun moved to California for a residency at St. Mary’s Hospital in Long Beach and later began a private practice at Paramount General Hospital. In 1975, he relocated his practice to Chino, California, where he served as president of the medical staff at Chino Community Hospital.
In the early 1990's, Jun and four other physician partners, affectionately known as “The 5 Amigos,” collaborated to build a brand-new, full-service medical facility next to Chino Community Hospital, named "Chino Medical Group.” The facility became home to many hand-picked physicians, who provided top-notch service to their patients. Jun continued to care for his patients, mentor other physicians, and helped build this facility into a premiere one-stop health care service center until his retirement in 2020. The facility remains strong to this day under a new name, "My Family Medical Group.”
Jun was married to Remedios Almirante, with whom he had a daughter, Lillian Pinzon Manzella. He later married Nancy Miranda, with whom he had a son, Gerad Miranda, and a daughter, Jennifer Pinzon.
Jun is reunited in spirit with his parents, brother Manny, wife Nancy, father-in-law Arthur, mother-in-law Bette, grandson Nicholas, auntie Evelyn and brothers-in-law Sonny, Prem, Douglas and Michael.
He leaves behind his beloved sisters Vivian, Rose, Lyndia, and Judy, and brother Andy. He also leaves his daughters Lillian and Jennifer, son Gerad, grandsons Brendan and Giacomo, brother-in-law Bob, sisters-in-law Susan and Perla, and countless nieces and nephews.
Jun was passionate about his work as a physician and often said, "If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life." He was a fun-loving, spirited colleague, and a frank yet compassionate provider. Upon retiring, he missed interacting with his patients the most.
Jun enjoyed spending time with his family, sailing, hiking, and playing tennis. His favorite pastime was sailing his sailboat, Watercolors and motoring his trawler, HiFidelity, to Catalina Island. His vibrant spirit was encapsulated in his favorite youthful saying, "YOLO."
