Fern was a blessing to our family years ago.   We RSVP'd to attend the Memorial, but are sorry we are unable to attend.  Love to her family.

Fern was so amazingly full of life and fun!  She was just a joy to be around.  Her love for her family was contagious though we never met.  Fern has been missed in all the groups she was in in AAUW.  Sending much love to all of her family, Elaine

Oh Fern!  God bless you!  I know you will be missed!  Much love and prayers for your family!

I was deeply saddened when I heard the news of Fern's passing.  She was instrumental in making me feel welcomed as a new member at AAUW.  She recognized and accepted my quirks and individuality .  I appreciated her multifacited life experiences and her love of family and kind-heartedness with whomever crossed her path.  I have missed her presence in my lfe in  these last waning years of hers.

With deepest sympathy I wish her loved one strenth and comfort in these difficult times.

I was so very sorry to hear about Fern.  She was my neighbor, but also the  grandmother to my daughter's friends.  She always had a smile on her face when I saw her in the neighbood, and was often out and about, which seemed impressive at her age.  She was a sweet lady, and she will be missed.
Your mother was a treasure in this world! I only knew her in the last 7 years when she hosted our AAUW contemporary literature book group at her home, always with a big bowl of popcorn. She was a shining light to us all. May you be consoled by all your memories of her.
Fern will be missed by many! She was such a kind lady with a big heart! With love and sympathy. Paul and Carol Curtis
I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mom was so  beautiful both inside and out.

Fern was a golden treasure, an inspiration,  leader  and dedicated AAUW sister. She will be missed but her life made an enormous difference on this earth and will remain in our hearts forever!

Am a deep believer her love, legacy and Spirit will live on! I especially will remember the joyous celebration of her 90th birthday when she and her dear friend Betty Grubb had a great catch up and we watched her presented with  Yellow Roses of Texas and she greeted us all by name with great hugs in her usual heels and with her beautiful smiles! She was pure joy!

Dear Chester family,

No one need tell you how much Fern was loved and admired.

I never ever saw her in any capacity without a full, genuine smile radiating from her inner spirit.  I have never known anyone else with her grit, grace, courage, modesty, intelligence, fierce curiosity, perfect attendance.  She showed up with so much inner joy it was contagious.

I see God through people like Fern.  She was possessed of the largest heart I have ever seen.  Her spirit burned within.

When at her 85th birthday party, I, much younger, had to sit down, while your mother spun around dancing in 2" heels and never sat down the entire time.  She loved showing off her musical family and was so proud of all of you.

I began knowing her 20 years ago through AAUW.  I saw her everywhere all the time.  She attended Austin Playhouse regularly and we saw her there.  Her interest and enthusiasm for learning and doing was extraordinary.  She loved and cared for older members of our organization.   She will love you and shine on you forever from above.

I miss her so much in this mortal world.  Her eternal life will and already is, a full one.

Fern was a good AAUW Friend of mine.  We had so much fun when we gift wrapped books at Barnes & Noble for many Decembers as a fundraiser for AAUW Funds.

My condolences to all my cousins and family.  Aunt Fern was a wonderful, dear Christian lady!  I fondly remember when Uncle Ray and Aunt Fern would bring all of you to visit each summer- good times!  She was the last of the Greatest Generation!  I am so thankful she was a part of some of my fondest memories, she was so positive, optimistic and a true joy to be around!  Again, my condolences to each of you!

John Kern   (Always how she would greet and address me!)

I grew up admiring my rock star/celebrity aunts, uncles and cousins. At least that how we always viewed them. My mind is chopped full of fond childhood memories of these vips. My consciousness as a child was always anticipating the next time that we could hang out in their orbit. My Uncle Ray and Aunt Fern and their brood are forever etched in my memory bank. I only remember great times with my Aunt Fern. I’ll see her again someday. Until then, rest in peace Aunt Fern.

So sorry for your loss. God comfort your hearts. I know you will miss her💕

I am the oldest granddaughter of Margaret Witt Arnett. My memories of Fern are mostly of being allowed to hang out with Lita Joyce and Fern and sometimes Stella when they got together in Amarillo.

Blessings to each of you 💕
