Lenny Ewashko
2013, 333 Johnson Ave, East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY, USA
I was working at Bart as a production person and Fe (that's what we called him) was the supervisor of the offset department. We became very friendly along with Jose Villalba, Reinaldo Mora, Tino DiPino and a bunch of other guys, anyway we would go to lunch together, go out for dinner or just drinks after work, we all had a great time and a great friendship every day for years but we were all very serious when it came to work and getting the jobs done correctly and ON TIME. This was a 24 hour printing plant and whenever the pressman had an issue or a problem with a job no matter what time it was he would call Fe and then Fe would call the production person to get an answer so the job could continue, the LAST thing you wanted was to have your job pulled off press, that was totally unacceptable. When you were home at night and the phone rang and it was Fe's name on the cell phone screen you immediately start panicking and questioning yourself, did I forget to put something on the job ticket? did I order enough stock? did the stock come in? a million things that could be wrong are running through your mind but not answering the phone was not an option. So with my hands shaking I answer the phone, hi Fe, is everything ok, is there a problem with my job running tonight? Let me mention that I was the one of the group that constantly told jokes and we all had many great laughs over the years. Fe answered and said Len listen I need your help, I'm in the bar with a bunch of friends and we are having a joke contest, every one has to tell a joke, there are four guys ahead of me and then it's my turn, I need a good joke now! I said Oh man Fe, you scared the fkng s__t out of me! I thought there was a problem with the job. We both got a good laugh out of it. If you knew Fe, needless to say he broke my balls about it for years.Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  I am so sorry that God has taken him so young, but we never question God's will. Rest in peace my friend. Much Love. My heartfelt condolences to his family.Β
