Felecia's obituary
Felecia Samuel, born April 25, 1968, passed away on July 20, 2023. Known for her organized, thoughtful, and prompt demeanor, as well as her loving and strong nature, Felecia left an unforgettable mark on everyone she met. She instilled in us the importance of family and the understanding that one is never too old to learn. It is these values, and her legacy of strength, kindness, and generosity, that will live on in those she left behind.
Felecia began her career in the US Navy in 1988, before transitioning to a role as Procurement Manager at Old Dominion University in 2003. Between her two roles, she found the love of her life, Thomas Samuel Sr., whom she married in 1992. Their children, Starkesha Johnson, Thomas Samuel Jr., and Jamar Samuel were her pride and joy, along with her grandchildren Jordan, Taylor, and Caden Rochester, and twins Torin and Tristian Samuel.
A lifelong achiever, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Strayer University in 2013 holding a Bachelor of Business Administration. Despite her busy schedule, she always made time for the things she loved – cooking, organizing family trips, sharing pictures of her grandbabies, and watching her favorite TV shows and movies including 'Crooklyn', 'Imitation of Life', and 'Mommie Dearest'. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and was present at every event and performance involving her grandchildren.
Felecia is survived by her husband Thomas Samuel Sr., her children Starkesha, Thomas Jr., and Jamar, her daughter-in-love Takerra Samuel and son-in-love Gregory Rochester, her grandchildren, her siblings Nicole (Myron) McWay White, Cassandra McWay Guy, Lanette Fuller, David (Debra) McWay, Bernard (Shirletha) McWay Sr., and numerous and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Laura and Lawrence Eugene McWay, sister, Andra Lorrain Fuller, and brother-in-love Nikita Guy.
A Celebration of Life for Felecia will be held at 2:00 PM on August 6th, 2023, at Metropolitan Funeral Services Granby, followed by a repass at 3:30 PM at Elegant Affairs, Banquet Hall & Event Center.
Felecia fought hard to give her family and friends as much time as possible with her. Her love and strength will be remembered, and she will be greatly missed. We appreciate the time God lent her to us and celebrate the life she lived, a testament to the woman she was and the principles she upheld.
