How you can help
Roel's passing on a very secluded island of Alaska was unexpected. The Island of King Cove was the home of multiple Peter Pan plants, a major Alaska seafood processor. Amid continuing low global fish prices that have stressed all levels of the industry, Peter Pan laid off current workers. Despite the island becoming empty, Roel and his girlfriend, Leah, decided to stay purely for life in the wild.
Unfortunately, Roel's passing was a logistical nightmare to get him transported from King Cove to Anchorage, where a mortuary and airport with flights going out of Alaska. The only transport out of the small island is through private charter planes, which can be astronomical in cost. The raised funds will cover Roel's body preparation, travel expenses and
