Fabian Jean Buckley passed away on February 6, 2025 in Mesa, AZ. Known to his friends and family as Jean, he is survived by his partner Jeanette Raveling; children Dave (Beth), Ken (Michele), Katie (Tony); grandchildren Makayla, Aidan, Gavin, Chloe; and siblings Ted (Lyn), Pat. He is preceded in death by parents Anne and John (Ruth), and siblings Gerry (Bill), Shirl (Al), Mary (Art), John (Dottie), Mike (Shirley), Jim (Sarah), Darrell (Linda).
Born on August 22, 1938 in Morris, MN, Jean spent most of his life traveling. From an early age he moved around MN by necessity before heading out west to Long Beach, CA in 1956 at the age of 17. He spent his 20s bouncing around Southern California before being drafted by the Army and sent to Germany. He returned to Long Beach after his service, where he met and married Noelle Meyers. Jean and Noelle later relocated to the Bay Area where he attended optometry school at Berkeley. They stayed there through his education before moving back to Minnesota for Jean to start practicing optometry.
Back in the Midwest, Jean and Noelle were blessed with three children, who Jean loved endlessly. Jean enjoyed spending his time with his kids, tinkering and building, traveling to the beach or going camping, playing games, and just being together. As his kids grew up and moved out, he enjoyed visiting them wherever they were or taking trips with them, taking them out to eat, and visiting every local attraction. He thoroughly loved spending time with his four grandchildren, giving them gifts, and watching them grow.
Jean met Jeanette Raveling in 2000, whom he spent nearly 25 fun years with dancing, traveling, and enjoying each other’s company. He felt blessed to be a part of Jeanette’s life and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Later in life, Jean and Jeanette enjoyed their summers in Okoboji, being snowbirds in Arizona, and taking the convertible for a spin.
