Everett was late getting back to Camp Pendleton, where he received a two day disciplinary action, but that didn’t stop Everett from seeing Martha. Everett was married to Martha for 55 years after meeting just over a month. They were happily married in San Pedro, California at his sister-in-law‘s Charlotte Matthews mother‘s home while serving at Camp Pendleton and training operations against the enemy forces of South and Central Korea Everett and Martha were living on base. Martha became pregnant with their first child Vicky Vicky was born August 1951 while Everett was over overseas during Everett’s deployment to Korea. Martha returned to her mother‘s home in Laverne, California and thereafter daughter Vicki was born. This was Everett and Martha’s wonderful Christmas present because he was born one day after on the 26th Everett was employed by HW loud machine works as a mechanist for 17 years in Pomona California. He then left HW loud machine works and went to work as a mechanic mechanist engineer at Sunkist growers in Ontario, California retired after 25 years with four patterns in his name on designing a chain for a fruit conveyor for Sunkist. Everett was into racing with his brother Adrian in the early years after his time in the service while he was eager for loud engines and speed he and his brother built a 1932 Ford four window coupe for drag racing and it was sponsored by AA wrecking in Pomona California while racing and blowing up engines and holding drag stripped speed records, he had his brother decided the car wasn’t fast as fast as they wanted. Everett told his brother we are going to build a rail dragster and cut holes in the frame the lightning when they finished Everett decided that it would be faster if they added nitro their first run and only run down the dragstrip with a new dragster Everett said coming off the lights, it was really fast and halfway down the track. It blew up and caught fire wife. Martha freaked out and said that that’s it and drag racing we thought was over Everett and his brother kept racing for a while then things seemed to Fizzle. Everett worked hard and raised his family, and the thoughts were still stirring up in his mind of racing as Greg became eight years old Everett decided to try quarter midgets with his son Gregory as the driver so Everett bought the quarter midget and we were off to the races. Gregory and his dad were popular winning races Gregory with his driving skills and his dad with the mind for speed and engines, they were beating track records. The officials decided they wanted to tear down the engines to inspect each engine and make sure they were not cheating. Well they never caught cheating and you know dad and son had the last laugh .
