Background

An estimated 64,050 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2023, more people than ever before. Approximately 50,550 Americans are expected to die from the disease this year.

And while pancreatic cancer is currently the 10th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S., it remains the third-leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Pancreatic cancer is on track to become the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths before 2030.

Evelyn was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2020. She qualified for the Whipple surgery, which was successful after 10 rounds of chemo and a week of radiation. She was undergoing immunotherapy treatment in February of 2022 when we received news of the stage IV cancer recurrence. Evelyn fought valiantly with more chemotherapy; unfortunately the treatment was unsuccessful. Even after her cancer returned, she bravely fought to watch her daughter Amira get married, vacation in Hawaii with her daughter Sofia, and proudly become a grandmother welcoming two grandsons, Aiden James and Theodore Hoque. Her remarkable fortitude, bravery, and strength throughout her battle is beyond inspiring.

We hope that with your donation, in honor of Evelyn, there will one day be a cure to this deadly disease, so no other family needs to experience such a devastating loss.
