Pat's obituary
Eva Patricia Stubbs Sturgeon
April 3, 1942 – July 12, 2025
Eva Patricia Stubbs Sturgeon, lovingly known as "Pat," passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 83. She was born in Wheeler, Texas, on April 3, 1942, to parents William Alexander Stubbs, Sr. and Olis Bullock Stubbs. Due to her father's service in the army, the family soon relocated to their hometown of Laurinburg, North Carolina, where her brothers Edwin Lee Stubbs and William Alexander Stubbs Jr. (Billy) were born.
Pat was affectionately called "Patsy" by her parents and her husband. On July 19, 1959, she married the love of her life, Darrell (Al) Sturgeon, and together they built a family and a beautiful life. Pat was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known as "MorMor" to many, and her warm, giving heart touched countless people.
Her passion was her dedication to Jehovah God. Pat symbolized her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on October 29, 1972, and she committed her life to sharing the good news of God's Kingdom with all she met. It was truly the most important thing in her life, and she was known for her consistent and genuine ministry.
Pat had a vibrant and creative spirit. She loved classical music, cooking, and art, often spending hours in the sunroom, sketching or painting in the perfect light. She found immense joy in spending time with her friends and family, creating many fond memories. In her later years, the staff at her nursing home affectionately called her the "social butterfly" because she was happiest when she was surrounded by people. Her greatest joy, however, was always hearing Jehovah’s name.
Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Darrell (Al) Sturgeon; her daughter, Terry Lynn Sturgeon Matlock; her parents; and her two brothers.
She is survived by her two children: Deborah Elaine Sturgeon Henderson and Dana Lianne Sturgeon Eastburn and her husband, Ricky Eastburn. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Julie Allen Stubbs (and husband Brandon), Ivy Henderson Da’Laat (and husband Tony), Kellie Henderson, Ajia Simmons, Krista Matlock Townsend (and husband John), Drew Matlock, Zachary Eastburn (and wife Lisa), Victoria Auzston (and husband Michael), and Mallory Eastburn. She is also survived by her ten great-grandchildren: Michael, Emma, Bryce, Alyssa, Maykenzie, Hayden, Carson, Parker, Alex (Tre’), and Penelope.
We will dearly miss our sweet Pat.
