Eugenio Saldivar De la Fuente passed away December 02, 2021, at Methodist Main Hospital in San Antonio Texas.
He was 81 years old. Eugenio was born December 31, 1939 in Cruillas, Tamaulipas Mexico.

Eugenio was formally adopted by by his aunt & uncle, Adolfo and Micaela De la Fuente who shortly after migrated to Texas. He was raised in Santa Rosa, Texas as their own son due to the unexpected death of his mother.

Eugenio was a life long resident of Santa Rosa, Texas. He loved to cook, especially barbecuing and entertaining family and friends at his 5 acre ranch in Santa Rosa, Texas. He was a skilled laborer who took pride in building and designing his own home. He was a problem solver who took on difficult and unwanted projects at work and around the house. He was a spiritual man involved in many church activities at St. Marys Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, Texas. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Eugenio is survived by his beloved daughter, Irma Schanen (Peter), and son Rene De la Fuente (Ana), his grandchildren, Joshua Angel Schanen, Lauren Marie Schanen, Katy De la Fuente, Mariana De la Fuente, Christina De la Fuente, and Rene De la Fuente Jr.

The family expresses their most sincere appreciation for the numerous prayers and condolences. From the bottom of our hearts we would like to recognize and pay special appreciation to the wonderful staff at St. Benedict’s Home Health Inc., Mrs. Brenda Ramon, Mrs. Maria Cardenas, and Dr. Peter John Schanen (DNP) for the excellent care provided, and the compassionate healthcare staff at Methodist Main Hospital in San Antonio Texas.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 09, 2021 at Rudy Garza Funeral Home on 217 Main Street La Feria Texas 78559.

Interment will follow at Santo Nombre (Holy Name) Cemetery on Louisiana Road, Santa Rosa, Texas.
