Eugene's obituary

In Loving Memory of Gene Saunders.

We want to share the news of the passing of Gene Saunders, a beloved husband, devoted father, passionate golfer, and successful business owner. He departed this earthly life at the age of 95, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and achievements.

Born in 1927 in Berkeley, Michigan, Eugene led a remarkable life filled with love, joy, humor, and numerous accomplishments. His journey was marked by dedication, hard work, and a strong faith that guided him throughout the years. He was a devout Christian, finding solace and strength in his relationship with God and the church community. He showed his devotion through countless acts of service to both Christ Lutheran Church and St Armands Key Lutheran Church.

Gene was a loyal husband who shared over 60 years of marriage with his loving wife, Carol. Their journey started when they met as teenagers while ice skating on a church youth group outing. The rest was history.

Gene and Carol raised three children, Richard, Gina and Shellie. He instilled in them the values of integrity, perseverance, reliability and the importance of family and a love for Christmas! His impact will continue to resonate through the generations.

Outside his family, Gene found joy and relaxation on the golf course. He was an avid golfer who embraced the sport with passion and dedication. Whether he was teeing off with friends or competing in tournaments, his love for the game was infectious.

One aspect of Gene's character that cannot be overlooked is his wry sense of humor. His wit brought smiles to the faces of friends and those he encountered.

Gene loved learning. As an engineer he often solved complex mechanical challenges (even helping the nurses figure out how to connect his oxygen tank). He loved technology, was an avid reader and enjoyed researching companies to invest in.

Professionally, Gene was a shining example of entrepreneurship and determination. He holds a patent for Ezekiel Clamps. He pioneered some of the first robotic assembly line machinery for the automobile industry.

He leaves behind cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
