Ethel Stephens-Hardy, 83, of Stockbridge, Georgia, transitioned peacefully and quietly from this life to be with the Lord on February 1, 2022 at 530 in the morning after an untimely battle with Cancer. She was surrounded by her Husband, son, daughter, in-laws and grandchildren. Ethel was born on July 17, 1938 to Ethelyn and Robert Morton Sr. in Inwood, NY 11096 whom both have preceeded her in death. She was the eldest of 3 children, (brother) Robert Morton Jr. ( Preceded her in death in 2020 of Inwood, New York) and (sister) Cecelia Phillips (Lynbrook, New York). After graduating from Lawrence High School in 1957, she went on to study Liberal Arts at Nassau Community College. After graduation, she landed her first job at Exxon- Mobil Oil Company in Far Rockaway, New York. Mrs. Ethel then moved to Rochdale Village in Queens, New York where she met the love of her life, Thentress (Ted) Hardy. The two became one on August 1, 1987. Ethel then became a mother to Denise (daughter) and Cleon (son) Hardy. Once Ethel retired from Mobil, she worked with King Kullen Supermarkets as an Administrative Assistant in which she retired in 2003. Ethel was a lifelong member of Bethel AME Church in Far Rockaway, New York and was the lead for Womens Day. Ethel always expanded her love for others and demonstrated hospitality by hosting dinner parties and was always the Diva of the party with her elegant gowns and wonderful sense of fashion. Because of her love for her children, she and her husband followed both her son and daughter to Stockbridge, Georgia to help raise their grandchildren. She will be remembered by her one of her favorite sayings when she thought someone was dressed very well, " you are as hot as a 45 caliber-POW, POW". She leaves behind her husband, Thentress, son, Cleon, daughter in-law Kicia, Daughter, Denise, son in-law Alfred King, sister Cecelia Phillips, 4 grandchildren, Camille, Corin, Bryce and Jordan, God daughter Zina Washington of South Carolina and a host of nieces and nephews, along with special friends who loved her, Barbara Bailey, Gladys Keller, Jackie Griffith and Donna Jackson.
